Course Title: POWERED INDUSTRIAL TRUCK (FORKLIFT)

Location: On-site (at customer’s location)

Course Description:
This course instructs equipment operators in the safety aspects, preventive maintenance, operating techniques, regulations, and proper procedures for using powered industrial trucks (forklifts). This program exceeds OSHA and State regulations, and includes a written test and performance evaluation of each operator. Participants receive a student workbook and wallet card certificate valid for 3-years. Customers receive class rosters, testing data and course evaluations. A forklift must be available for this training.

What is a powered industrial truck?
Any power-propelled trucks used to carry, push, pull, lift, stack or tier materials. Does not include farm vehicles, or vehicles intended primarily for earth moving or over-the-road hauling.

Who requires this training?
The regulations say, "Each operator shall be trained and evaluated prior to being assigned to operate a powered industrial truck, when a different machine is introduced, when the work location changes, or when an evaluation indicates a need".

Liability Note for Managers:
"It is critical that organizations employ competent operators, and have the supportive documentation. A competent individual is one who has the knowledge, experience, and training to safely and effectively perform their duties, and can recognize hazards or potential hazards in the workplace, and has the ability to address these hazards. If your organization does not have competent operators as outlined, then your liability exposure is elevated. Please understand that experience alone or hand-me-down knowledge does not replace the foundational aspects of formal training or operator evaluations." - D. Bianchi, President
