Confined Space Training Course Title: CONFINED SPACE >> AWARENESS, ENTRANT, ATTENDANT, SUPERVISOR

Location: On-site (at customer’s location)

Course Description:
This confined space training program has been developed to instruct personnel in the safety techniques required to conduct work in a confined space. Training applies to confined space entry operations conducted by individuals in the workplace and complies with State and Federal requirements. Participants will be instructed in confined space standards, written entry program, permit system, hazardous atmospheres and the duties of the supervisor, entrant, and/or attendant during entry operations and emergencies.

Each employee must attend appropriate training before being assigned duties to work in a confined space. Refresher training must be attended at least every two years. Training records must be maintained and include the date(s) of the training program, the program instructor(s), a copy of the written material presented, and the names of the employee(s) to whom the training was given.

AWARENESS LEVEL
All personnel involved in confined space work must receive training, including:

  • Definition and identification of confined spaces
  • Hazard recognition
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Safety equipment
  • Communications equipment
  • Requirements of this program
  • Conditions or work practices causing additional hazards requiring reassessment of the confined space.
ENTRANT LEVEL
Personnel who enter confined spaces using the Permit Entry procedure must receive training, including:
  • Information under awareness training above
  • Requirements and conditions for permitted entry
  • Hazard recognition, use of atmospheric testing devices, information on symptoms and consequences of exposure.
  • Use of personal protective equipment including rescue harnesses and respiratory protection
  • Entry procedures and precautions
  • Recognition of warning signs, symptoms of exposure and detection of prohibited conditions.
  • Evacuation Requirements
  • Emergency and non-entry rescue methods, and procedures for calling rescue services.
ATTENDANT LEVEL
The attendant must receive training as detailed for entrants including the following:
  • Additional hazards that may be faced during entry, information on symptoms and consequences of exposure;
  • Possible behavioral effects of hazard exposure on authorized entrants.
SUPERVISOR LEVEL
The entry supervisor shall receive training as an attendant, and additional training as required to evaluate confined space hazards.

Course Outline
These programs are delivered on-site, meet the above criteria, and instruct attendees in the recognition and evaluation of confined space hazards with respect to their appropriate level of responsibility; atmospheric monitoring and general testing protocol; ventilation, isolation and lockout/tagout procedures. Program includes class roster, course evaluations, and wallet cards for successful participants.
